COMMENTS ON DIFFERENTIABILITY OF SOLUTIONS OF BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS.

Abstract

In this report, the problem of smoothness of solutions of boundary value problems is considered. It is shown that the smoothness problem is reducible to a study of certain spaces of gereralized solutions of the homogeneous adjoint problem. These spaces are then studied in the case of symmetric positive systems. The results are then applied to boundary value problems for singular ordinary differential equations. In this case, explicit conditions are given which can be used to determine the degree of smoothness of solutions. (Author)
