ABSORPTION EDGE SPECTRUM OF SCANDIUM OXIDE,

Abstract

The ultraviolet absorption spectrum of single crystals of nominally pure Sc2O3 was measured at room temperature and at liquid nitrogen temperature. The results are compared with the probable energy level structure of the system. An estimate of the expected position of the absorption threshold based on a simple charge transfer model gives reasonable agreement with the observed absorption edge. (Author)
