A STUDY OF THE EFFECTS OF DIELECTRIC PLUGLOADING ON SLOT ANTENNAS.

Abstract

The problem of analytically determining the effects on the input characteristics of a slot antenna of loading the slot with a dielectric plug is examined. It is found that the values of the input impedance and resonant frequency of a dielectric plug-loaded slot antenna lie between that of a slot antenna in free space and that of a slot antenna completely surrounded with dielectric material. The problem of determining the input impedance of a slot antenna at resonance in a dielectric medium in terms of the input impedance of a slot antenna at resonance in free space is solved. The results of the test on a slot antenna with a dielectric plug are presented. (Author)
