INVESTIGATION OF PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED IN WAVE INTERACTION EXPERIMENTS AT HIGH POWER.

Abstract

The wave interaction equations are extended to account for nonlinearities which are noticeable at high disturbing powers. Previous assumptions are investigated to see if they are still valid. A suitable nonlinear approximation is derived for ionospheric heating. This approximation leads to an accurate analytical approximation for the interaction effect at high powers. It was found that ionospheric parameters will be able to be synthesized using high powered interaction. A preliminary study indicated the feasibility of synthesizing electron temperature form interaction data. (Author)
