PROTECTIVE COATINGS FOR DEEP SUBMERGENCE VESSELS.

Abstract

Glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) laminates brush coated with a 50% solids epoxy solution were fatigued for several thousand cycles between 0 and 7,000 psig without evidence of coating/substrate interface failure. The epoxy coating must be reasonably thin to prevent failure during hydrostatic pressurization. (Author)
