REACTION OF ORGANOCYCLOSILAZANE WITH DIHYDROXY POLYORGANOSILOXANES,

Abstract

Organocyclosilazane was reacted with dihydroxy polyorganosiloxanes (dihydroxy dimethyl diohenyl disiloxane or dihydroxy trimethyl triphenyl trisiloxane) in the presence of hexamethyl cyclotrisilazane. The yield of the low molecular-weight rubberlike product amounted to about 60%. It was established that the interaction of hexamethyl cyclotrisilazane with dihydroxy polyorganosiloxanes leads to the full breakdown of silazane ring with, the formation of polymers (with regular alternation of the links in the chain) and ammonia.
