DETERMINATION OF THE STRUCTURE OF 03F2.

Abstract

The objective of this program was to study the molecular structure of trioxygen difluoride, O3F2. To accomplish this objective the following properties were measured: surface tension, viscosity, dielectric constant, paramagnetic susceptibility, specific susceptibility, molar magnetic moment, electron paramagnetic resonance, nuclear magnetic resonance, and infrared spectra. The structure of O3F2 is not clearly defined. There is evidence to support the presence of O2F and OF radicals. There is evidence to support the possibility that O3F2 is a trimer at least in the liquid state. O3F2 is not a compound of ozone. A linear molecular configuration is not possible. (Author)
