A NEW APPROACH TO STUDIES OF MUCUS FLOW AND CILIARY ACTIVITY.

Abstract

The report summarizes the work accomplished on a program to determine the feasibility of the use of fiber optics as a means of measuring ciliary activity in vivo. During the program, observation tubes were designed, produced, and implanted in the trachea of beagles. Both in vitro and in vivo tests were performed with a preliminary model of a fiber optics probe.
