PLASTIC MARINE FITTINGS,

Abstract

In five years the production of synthetic resins and plastics in the USSR increased 2.3 times. Production should reach 3.5 to 4 million tons in 1970. This opens up a vista of future uses for plastics in shipbuilding, including their use in manufacturing fittings and other items of equipment for a ship's hull. Sample plastic water and gas-tight and cabin doors, hatch covers, portholes, man holes and ladders, have already been successfully tested and have been installed in some ships for experimental operation.
