ARE SMALL, FREE-STANDING COMPUTERS HERE TO STAY.
Abstract
Computing-power-per-dollar in small machines is considered to be increasing rapidly and will continue to do so. Some of the features now available only through time-sharing will become available on freestanding machines. When that occurs, and when the crossover point in costs is reached (i.e., when it costs the same either way), then attention will focus on the unique advantages of each system of operation.
