Abstract

In 1963 the faculty organized more than 20 expeditions to the Extreme North, the non-Black Soil region of the European part of the USSR, the Volga region, the Ukraine, the Caspian region, the Caucasus, the Ural region, Kazakhstan, Eastern Siberia and the Far East. The expeditions' operations were accompanied by experimental studies of physico-geographic processes, the development of new types of maps and atlases, new methods of geographic research and new textbooks for universities in the various departments and laboratories of the faculty.
