Abstract

The well-known naturalist and geographer Ivan Semenovich Shchukin accomplished much for the development of geomorphology. Konstantin Konstantinovich Markov conducted basic theoretical investigations in the fields of physical geography, geomorphology, glaciology and especially the paleogeography of the Quaternary Period. K. K. Markov invariably substantiated and checked concepts of a general theoretical nature with the results of regional field investigations, conducted in the most varied parts of the Soviet Union and abroad.
