MANPOWER AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE U. S. NAVY SPACE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM HEADQUARTERS, DAHLGREN, VA.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the quantitative and qualitative personnel requirements of Navy personnel assigned to the Headquarters, (NAVSPASUR) in the event of Navy manning at a future date. Recommendations: Selection criteria for machine accountants assigned to the Processing and Evaluation Division should include training and/or experience on high speed digital computers. Due to the level of skill involved and the critical nature of the operation, key personnel should receive an overlapping tour of duty. The selection criteria of maintenance personnel for the Headquarters should include training and/or experience in the maintenance of digital and analog computers. Personnel assigned to operate and maintain the Automatic Digital Data Assembly System must receive on-the-job training as soon as they report for duty. No additional schools or Naval Enlisted Codes will be required to support the U.S. Navy Space Surveillance System.
