ELASTIC SCATTERING OF 45 MEV PROTONS.

Abstract

Measurements of the differential elastic scattering cross section were carried out using the 'negative ion' beam of the UCLA cyclotron, as part of a program of optical model studies. The methods of data taking and of the reduction of the raw data are discussed in detail. Brief outlines of the history of the optical model of its mathematical formulation are included. Results of the cross section measurements are given for beryllium-9, carbon-12, nickel-58, and nickel-60 for a series of angles ranging from 15 to 150 degrees. (Author)
