THE NEUTRALIZATION OF SPHERICALLY DIVERGENT FLUXES OF CHARGED PARTICLES,

Abstract

The process is examined of neutralization of a spherically divergent flux of ions. It is shown that depending upon the magnitudes of the determining parameters two different behaviors of the potential in the neutralized flux are possible. In contrast to the planar case, when undamped oscillations of potential occur in the spherical case the potential either achieves damped oscillations or monotonically goes to the limiting value. The results of numerical calculation for neutralization of a flux of cesium ions by electrons are introduced as an example.
