SEMICONDUCTOR LIMITERS AS MICROWAVE DUPLEXING DEVICES.

Abstract

The report covers the design, development, and evaluation of two X-band semiconductor limiters. The limiters were developed for application as duplexing devices in the man-packed battlefied radar systems AN/PPS-4 and AN/PPS-6. The limiters operate at peak powers of 500 and 1000 watts over a 500 Mc bandwidth and 0.001 duty cycle. Design and construction of the basic limiter is described, including means of incorporating PIN and varactor diodes in waveguides, together with a technique for achieving passive limiter operation. Test methods and complete test results are given in the electrical evaluation of the limiters as microwave duplexing devices. (Author)
