COMPUTATIONAL PROBLEMS IN THE THERMODYNAMICS OF PHASE EQUILIBRIA AND VAPORIZATION KINETICS.

Abstract

Numerical predictions are made of certain equilibrium thermodynamic features of real systems: phase limits, vapor pressure, congruent vaporization compositions, eutectic points, melting point maxima, composition dependence of the heats of formation of compounds, etc. This theoretical model can be used to correlate diverse thermochemical data. The equilibrium phase diagram is calculated, using statistical thermodynamical models of certain homogenous phases, namely a regular solution phase (solid or liquid) and a nonstoichiometric solid compound phase.
