FOREIGN SYMPOSIA ON SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH.

Abstract

Two conferences of European social psychologists and a small number of United States social psychologists, to exchange information on current research, to share views regarding future research, and to bring about closer relationships among European psychologists, were held --in December 1963 at Sorrento, Italy, and in December 1964 at Frascati, Italy. A technical report (Technical Report No. 1) on the 1963 conference has been prepared and distributed by Dr. John Lanzetta, and a technical report on the December 1964 conference is in preparation. In addition to the direct intellectual gains produced by the conferences, discussions at the conferences have led to the formation of a European Association for the Advancement of Social Psychology. The Association in cooperation with the Committee on Transnational Social Psychology of the Social Science Research Council is planning a summer training institute for European social psychologists to be held in Belgium in 1966, following a similar summer school held at the Hague in 1965, and the European Association is planning a third conference of European social psychologists to be held in France in 1966.
