MACHING 18% NICKEL MARAGING STEEL WITH ROTARY TOOLS.

Abstract

Speed and feed combinations for drilling, reaming, tapping and end-milling 18% nickel maraging steel in the annealed condition were determined by laboratory machining tests. Tapping of this material in the maraged (hardened) condition was also successfully accomplished. Comparison of these results with results in the literature and with production data indicate this material may be machined at higher rates than previously recommended. (Author)
