ORGANIZATION OF SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION IN THE COMMUNIST WORLD

Abstract

The report presents information on the All-Union Institute of Scientific and Technical Information (VINITI). Recent administrative changes affecting VINITI are briefly discussed. The first section describes the components of the information network organized by the 11 May 1962 decree of the Council of Ministers: the VINITI itself and the analogous information services, either planned or already in existence. Functions and tasks of the following information agencies are covered: VINITI, Central Scientific Research Institute on Patent Information and Technical and Economic Research (TsNIIPI), The All- Union Scientific Research Institute of Medical and Medicotechnical Information (VNIIMI), The Central Institute of Scientific Information on Construction and Architecture (TsINIS), The All-Union Institute of Scientific and Technical Information on Agriculture (VINTI), and information agencies of the State Committee on Standards, Measures, and Measuring Instruments, USSR (VNIIKI).
