A NONDIMENSIONAL APPROACH TO THE MINIMUM WEIGHT DESIGN OF HOT COMPRESSION STRUCTURE,

Abstract

The design of hot compression structures is complicated by the various possible stress-strain relationships and structural configurations. A nondimensional design technique is presented in terms of geometric and material parameters which can readily be evaluated from known boundary conditions, type of construction, and stress-strain data. The design procedure for minimum weight is demonstrated for a heated truss-like spar. (Author)
