GERMANIUM (LITHIUM) DETECTOR FABRICATION,

Abstract

Techniques for the manufacture of Ge(Li) detectors are described. A step-by-step description is given for each of the procedures in the fabrication of a Ge(Li) detector, including germanium preparation, lithium diffusion, lithium drift, and test and evaluation. The necessary materials and equipment are also listed together with their availabilities. The text is augmented with detailed diagrams. Finally examples are given of gamma-ray pulse height spectra which have been recorded with a Ge(Li) detector. (Author)
