ON THE AXISYMMETRICAL VIBRATIONS OF CONICAL SHELLS.

Abstract

In this paper it is shown that the fundamental frequencies of the axisymmetrical vibrations of conical shells can be predicted quite accurately by the extensional theory as long as the thickness of the shell is small compared with its length and the apex angle is not too wide. This is confirmed by comparing the results of the extensional theory with those of experiment and with those of the more exact theory including bending effect. (Author)
