BEAM DETEORIATION AND STIMULATED RAMAN EFFECT,

Abstract

Experimental evidence is presented to suggest that scattering mechanicsms in a medium can produce inhomogeneities or filamentary structure in an initially homogeneous laser beam. It is these hot filaments which are responsible for the many anomalous effects previously observed.
