HOT-WIRE ANEMOMETER STUDY OF A TURBULENT BOUNDARY LAYER ON A POROUS AXIAL CIRCULAR CYLINDER WITH UNIFORM AIR INJECTION.

Abstract

The report deals with a hot-wire anemometer study of a turbulent boundary layer on a porous axial cylinder with a free stream velocity of 120 feet per second. The variations through the boundary layer of the transverse and longitudinal fluctuating velocity components, the Reynolds stress, the turbulent friction coefficient, and the correlation coefficient were obtained at axial Reynolds numbers of 400,000, 600,000, and 900,000. Two cases of injection with air were studied in addition to the case of no injection. The value of the dimensionless injection rate was 0, 0.000084, and 0.00020. (Author)
