NEUROPHYSIOLOGICAL MECHANISMS OF THE STATES OF SLEEP.

Abstract

The main findings are: (1) Neuroanatomical evidence that two different systems are responsible for tonic and phasic phenomena during paradoxical sleep (P.S.). (2) Neuropharmacological evidence that these two systems depend upon different mechanisms related with monoamines.
