ELF AND VLF EMISSIONS IN NORTHERN SCANDINAVIA.

Abstract

In this report, the frequencyband of naturally-occurring electromagnetic emissions between DC and 10 kc/s is divided into three sub-bands, namely: The band between DC and, say 6 cps, where the micropulsations are most pronounced, the earth - ionosphere cavity resonance band between 6 and 40 cps, and finally one broad spectrum between 40 cps and 10 kc/s, where both propagation - and emissions phenomena are important. Both the equipment, the method of recording and analyzing, as well as the preliminary results obtained within these three bands are discussed in Sections 2 to 4. Constructionnd building of new receiving equipment (amplifiers, filters, spectrumanalyzers etc) has taken very much data have already been gathered. In Section 5 the research plans for the next year are described. (Author)
