THE INFLUENCE OF LOCAL WINDS ON FALLOUT.

Abstract

Information on the structure of the sea breeze obtained by previous observational and theoretical studies has been employed to develop a kinematic model of the three -dimensional wind field associated with the sea breeze. Existing information on the structure of the stabilized fallout cloud has been used in the numerical computation of the deposition of radioactive particles through a specified sea-breeze circulation. A program was developed for the numerical computation of fallout transport through an analytically prescribed three-dimensional sea-breeze circulation and for the computation of its ground deposition pattern. The computer program was utilized to illustrate the fallout deposition patterns obtainable from simple models of the stabilized cloud through alternative models of three-dimensional sea -breeze wind fields.
