RATIONAL APPROXIMATIONS TO GENERALIZED HYPERGEOMETRIC FUNCTIONS.

Abstract

Under weak restrictions on the various free parameters, general theorems for rational representations of the generalized hypergeometric functions, and certain Meijer G-functions are developed. Upon specialization, these theorems yield a sequency of rational approximations which converge to the desired limit. Two numerical examples are included, the Bessel functions J sub o(z) and K sub o(z), of the first and third kind, respectively. (Author)
