MATERIALS ANALYTICAL RESEARCH.

Abstract

The report summarizes analytical research performed during the designated period 1 April 1964 through 31 March 1965 on experimental materials, both organic and inorganic, with particular emphasis on such techniques as infrared, mid infrared, visible absorption spectroscopy, gas chromatography, vapor pressure osmometry, elution fractionation for molecular weight determination, electrical procedures, x-rays, organic and inorganic chemical analysis. Particular attention is given to the yttrium-cobalt alloy systems and to 2-hydrazo-p-cymene. Other major results include: (1) a method for improving the separation of polymers by addition of a temperature gradient to the solvent gradient; (2) interpretion of infrared spectra in the cesium bromide region; (3) a method for the analysis fluorine based on the use of samarium chloride.
