TRANSDUCER AND INTERCOMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR AIR CREWMAN'S PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR.

Abstract

A final model earphone enclosure assembly was developed based upon the low-frequency-coupled principle. The APH-5 helmet was modified to accommodate this assembly and the tubular microphone shield assembly. An articulation analysis of the completed exploratory development model helmet transducer system was conducted using prediction techniques. Results of the development and an evaluation of the exploratory development model of a wireless voice intercommunication system having 'party-line' or 'round table' communication capability is presented. The system is a portable, lowpower, battery-operated unit using the single-sideband suppressed carrier (SSBSC) type of transmission. Carrier frequency is 20.45 megahertz and the range is 100 yards. Test results adequately demonstrated the feasibility of 'break-in' or 'party-line' operation.
