PSYCHOPHYSICAL METHODOLOGY I. COMPARISON OF THRESHOLDS OF THE METHOD OF LIMITS AND OF THE METHOD OF CONSTANT STIMULI.

Abstract

In 'Yes' - 'No' psychophysical experiments assume that the greater the intensity of the stimulus, the greater the probability of a 'Yes' response. On the basis of this assumption (a) the relationships between the method of limits and the method of constant stimuli are derived, (b) a procedure for comparing data obtained by the two methods is recommended, (c) a procedure for comparing ascending and descending series within the method of limits is given.
