THE EFFECT OF CHEMICAL COMBINATION ON THE SOFT X-RAY K EMISSION BANDS OF NITROGEN AND CARBON.

Abstract

Chemical combination has a marked effect on the shape of the x-ray K emission bands of nitrogen and carbon. Nitrogen bands from a few nitrides and carbon bands from graphite, diamond, lampblack and some metallic carbides are shown. The wavelengths of the most prominent parts of the bands are listed as are the half bandwidths and full bandwidths. Results were obtained using electron excitation, a lead stearate crystal and flow proportional counter. (Author)
