INVARIANT IMBEDDING AND THE SOLUTION OF DIFFUSION EQUATIONS,

Abstract

In this memorandum, invariant imbedding techniques are shown to be applicable to the numerical solution of a heat equation for an inhomogeneous rod, whose straightforward solution can be computationally unstable. This is done by taking the Laplace transform of the equation, which is itself unstable, and then deriving corresponding invariant imbedding equations. (Author)
