ON A SECOND-ORDER THOMAS-FERMI THEORY,

Abstract

A second-order Thomas-Fermi theory, involving a product representation of the theta operator, has been constructed. It yields a particle density exhibiting a shell structure for the one-dimensional harmonic oscillator. (Author)
