RF BREAKDOWN NEAR A CONICAL RE-ENTRY BODY.

Abstract

The paper provides a basis for a detailed description of rf breakdown of the atmosphere in the vicinity of a conical re-entry vehicle which is transmitting an rf signal to earth. It derives relatively simple equations governing the electromagnetic, chemical, and hydrodynamic processes accompanying breakdown near a re-entry vehicle. An application is made to several idealized models. (Author)
