RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF AN ELECTRO -OPTIC WIDEBAND SPECTRUM ANALYZER.

Abstract

Test equipment is being assembled to perform a single -frequency detection experiment. Preliminary tests at RF show that a dielectric structure will match the electro -optic crystal into X-Band waveguide, and various artificial dielectrics are being tested for use in this design. An optical discriminator is being made, together with its photodetector, to integrate with the waveguide electro -optical portion of the spectrum analyzer. Analysis of the optical discriminator system shows good broadband performance with sensitivity falling off only 5% at each extreme of the 8 to 12 Gc band. (Author)
