A METHOD TO CORRECT RECORDS FROM DISTRIBUTED PARAMETER VELOCITY TRANSDUCERS FOR HIGH FREQUENCY RESONANCE DISTORTIONS.

Abstract

A correction method devised to compensate for the high frequency distortions introduced by the mechanical characteristics of the commonly used two-coil bar-magnet velocity meter is considered. The application of the correction to both digital and analog data reduction procedures is discussed and illustrated. The correction can be applied more simply with automatic sampled data systems for the applications illustrated. The illustrations also show that a good correction is obtained to at least the first longitudinal mode frequency of the coil form. The delay method of signal correction has the advantage over conventional filtering techniques in that it introduces no phase distortion and is capable of compensating for very high magnification factors.
