MEAN SEA LEVEL PRESSURE NORMALS.

Abstract

Monthly and annual mean sea level pressure normals are shown on tables for all Canadian weather stations with an appreciable length of record over the period 1941 to 1960. The values listed are generally based on at least ten years of observed data. However, shorter records have been used in a few instances where it is important that a provisional normal be established. At some stations the established elevation of the station was in error during the early part of the record and it has been necessary to apply corrections to the data to bring them into uniformity with surrounding stations. In each case a code number is given which indicates the way in which these normals have been calculated. It is planned to publish these pressure normals in a booklet with other climatological parameters at a later date and this preliminary listing provides an opportunity to apply any needed editorial corrections. Users of these data are therefore urged to advise Meteorological Branch Headquarters of any errors or omissions. The mean sea level pressure data are expressed in millibars. (Author)
