ON STABILITY OF LINEAR SMOOTHING FORMULAS.
Abstract
A proof is given of Schoenberg's conjecture that 'least-square' smoothing is stable, and is extended to include the entire class of minimum R sub m smoothing formulas. Minimum R sub infinity formulas are defined and studied. (Author)
