EFFECT OF WATER ABSORPTION ON DIMENSIONAL STABILITY OF ELECTRIC MOTOR ENCAPSULATING MATERIALS.

Abstract

Experiments with epoxy materials to determine their dimensional change as caused by water absorption (when used as encapsulating materials for submersible electric motor windings) were conducted with sufficient sample population to allow statistical analysis. The studies showed that the water absorption rates of the three epoxies were identical and that deep submergence pressures did not accelerate the absorption rate or the dimensional growth of the epoxies. Dimensional changes due to water absorption were found to be very small in all cases. (Author)
