ON CONSTITUTIVE EQUATIONS FOR FLOW OF FLUID THROUGH AN ELASTIC SOLID.

Abstract

Some thermodynamical aspects of a restricted class of nonlinear constitutive equations for a mixture of two continua are discussed. These results are then specialized and further developed for the flow of fluid through an elastic solid and are applicable to problems of flow in porous media. The linearized constitutive relations for porous media, together with a simple example, are also discussed. (Author)
