HUMAN OPERATOR CONTROLS SYSTEMS: II. THE INTERACTION OF DISPLAY MODE, CONTROL SYSTEM DYNAMICS AND COURSE FREQUENCY,

Abstract

The experiment studied the interaction of the parameters of mode of information display, control system dynamics and course frequency in a man-machine system where the human operator exerted closed-loop control in one-dimension. The experimental conditions were formed from all possible combinations of following and compensatory display, three complex courses of different frequencies; and position, rate and acceleration control dynamics. A significant three-factor interaction was found between display mode, course frequency and control system dynamics. (Author)
