OPTICAL INHOMOGENEITIES IN PUMPED LASERS.
Abstract
This report delineates progress made during the analysis in depth of thermal distortion of wavefronts in large laser rods. Included is an Introduction and Summary which briefly describes the problem, the program, results to date and future direction of effort. A review of previous work by American Optical Company and others is given. In separate sections, Thermally Stable Cavities, Temperature Profiles and Index Changes are treated. Finally a mathematical study of End Region Stress Analysis is presented. (Author)
