INVESTIGATION OF THE MOTION OF A PLASMA IN A GAS-DISCHARGE TUBE EQUIPPED WITH COAXIAL ELECTRODES,

Abstract

A study was made of the distribution of velocities of the forward glowing front of the plasma inside a coaxial accelerator in a wide range of an initial air pressures in the tube. Furthermore, observations were conducted on the outflow of plasma from the coaxial accelerator and the reflection of plasma from the face of the tube. Timedependent recordings were made of the impulse of pressure on the face of the tube and of the glow of the plasma. The spectral composition of the plasma was also studied.
