THE INTERPRETATION OF AUDIOMETRIC FINDINGS WITHIN A HEARING CONSERVATION PROGRAM.

Abstract

A method for interpretation of audiometric data obtained within the Navy's Hearing Conservation Program is presented. An explanation of the various audiometric contours is given, followed by a step-by-step precedure for analyzing the pure tone audiogram. In addition, recommendations are made concerning the disposition of patients whose audiograms do not fall within normal limits. Utilization of these procedures within a comprehensive program of hearing testing, noise control, and education is recommended for all ships and stations whose personnel work in hazardous noise.
