ON THE PROPAGATION OF VLF WAVES IN SOLIDS

Abstract

In the present report, the propagation of VLF waves in solid media is described by theory and experiment for the near field and for the subsequent transition zone to the far field. The decisive parameters: conductivity, and dielectric constant are determined by independent methods of measurement. The required instruments, largely designed by our team, are described. The theory of a magnetic transmitting dipole is checked and modified by a number of measurements in regions of different geological conditions.
