PRODUCTION TEST EQUIPMENT FOR ALTIMETER WARNING TEST SET AN/APM-254.
Abstract
The AN/APM-254 is designed to test the Radar Altimeter Warning Set AN/APQ-107 at the flight line or shop level. It consists of a suitcase type housing containing a syncro, altimeter and bellows system, aural system, switches and panel lamps. The test set calibrates and functionally tests the RAWS unit utilizing visual and aural indications. Supertester is a tape-operated test system capable of measuring: ac and dc voltages, impedance, resistance, as well as continuity and leakage. The system contains bridge circuits for measurements, utilizing a floating (isolated from ground) 600-input two-wire system. Out-of-tolerance readings are indicated by means of an indicating lamp, buzzer, and printed test number. Manual and automatic control of the system is provided by a tape reader and control panel. Conclusions: Use of self-contained semi-automatic test systems (such as Supertester) on the Altimeter Warning Test Set program resulted in a substantial savings. The equipment lent itself to rapid incorporation of changes imposed by modifications to the field test set. (Author)
