INCREASING THE EFFICIENCY OF TURBINE EXHAUST PIPE,
Abstract
The two spirals of the helix-- on the left and right sides--create two circulations of opposing direction, which are transmitted into an axially radial diffuser and lead to the formation, on the larger part of the circumference, of a nonradial, axially assymmetrical flow discharge from the diffuser. As a result, the effective degree of the expansion of the diffuser is diminished, and the pressure increase in it is reduced. Therefore, for a given exhaust area of the helix, it is more efficient to increase the transverse radial dimensions of the helix at the expense of the axial dimensions and thus to bring velocity field at the diffuser outlet closer to the radial direction with axial symmetry.
