EVALUATION TEST METHODS FOR BERYLLIUM

Abstract

The report was prepared to establish standardized methods and procedures for conducting mechanical property tests on beryllium. The data presented are restricted to information which is well established and accepted, but the report also identifies areas of testing controversy and highlights current technical needs in the testing area. The report attempts to document recommended methods, based on a review of the procedures used in a number of organizations. For various reasons, many will want to deviate from these methods. To permit reliable inter-comparisons between laboratories, standardized methods are needed; and it is hoped that for this reason these methods will be adopted. Recommended procedures for tensile, 3-point bend, 4- point bend and precision elastic limit tests are described. (Author)
